Angus Stevenson
Financial Planner
Angus founded Terrabella Wealth in 2022. He is passionate about family wealth management. He is a Certified Financial Planner.
In his own words, this is Angus’ philosophy for the business and how he works with clients.
How did you get into the financial planning industry?
I grew up in Central West NSW. I spent a lot of time with family and friends out on their farms, learning, through trial and error (quite a bit of error), about farming.
I completed high school at a Sydney boarding school and then attended the Australian National University, where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in History & International Relations / Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance. I found finance pretty straightforward and preferred my arts subjects. In hindsight this sounds counterintuitive, but I would argue the Arts degree was invaluable. It taught me how to extensively research, understand and appreciate varied perspectives and articulate my reasoning in a concise and comprehendible manner.
Why did you choose a career in financial planning?
Honestly, it was completely accidental. I was a rowing coach at Canberra Grammar School and one of the parents ran a boutique financial planning business where I started working at part-time during my final year of university. I was captivated by the educational aspect and personal nature of the work. Every family is unique and I enjoy personalising strategies to best suit them. Educating clients on strategic and investment recommendations so they are empowered to make informed decisions is also incredibly rewarding.
For me, there is so much room for the financial planning profession to grow and evolve.
What’s the most important part of your job?
Without a question, it’s my clients. Financial planners are in the privileged position of getting to know clients and their families intimately. It sounds simple, but taking the time to listen and gain an understanding of the client’s aspirations, their attitudes to risk, communication preferences and what reporting detail they would like is imperative to being the kind of advisor they want to do business with.
I also place a strong emphasis on client education. It’s important to me that recommendations are explained in a manner that my clients can understand, so they can make informed decisions.
What differentiates Terrabella Wealth from other financial planners?
Our advice is centered around intergenerational wealth preservation. We want to protect our client’s success as their family grows. We work to ensure investment income can comfortably cover living expenses as our clients get older and safeguard family assets.
What keeps you busy outside of work?
I’ve been involved with sports from a young age. I am currently a coach at the Gunghalin Eagles Rugby Union Club.
I am a non-executive director of the Future Farmer’s Network (FFN) which is responsible for educating and empowering young people in the agricultural industry.

Associate Advisor
Rob joined Terrabella Wealth in July 2023 after almost four years with NAB working in the business banking division. He is currently finishing his Diploma of Financial Planning and is undertaking his professional year.
How did you get into the financial planning industry?
I’ve always had an interest in personal finance and investing. When I was young, I used to ask my Dad whether he was a bull or a bear for the day not really understanding what it meant!
I finished my Food and Agribusiness degree at Sydney University and wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do. I was fortunate enough to start with NAB in their graduate program and over the next few years I worked with business clients and really enjoyed the relationship aspect of my job. Sitting down with clients and helping them achieve their goals was very rewarding but I knew it wasn’t what I wanted to do forever. I wanted to sit on the same side of the table as our clients and formulate a plan that everyone is happy with and one that will help achieve their goals.
It took me a while to finally make the switch to financial planning and pick up the books again, but I am so happy I made the jump!
Why did you choose a career in financial planning?
I wanted to help people take control of their finances and look at the whole picture.
As Peter Thornhill puts it, too many people are slaves to their money and don’t make money their slave. I also find the area fascinating, particularly the intersection with psychology – money decisions are not black and white, and emotion plays a huge role. I wanted to work together with clients to formulate and implement a plan and help them on their journey.
What’s the most important part of your job?
I really enjoy the education piece. Too much of the information regarding finance is unnecessarily complicated and I like distilling this into easy-to-understand information. Whether we like it or not money is a big piece of our lives, and a basic understanding is needed. It is my hope that I can help people make informed decisions so that they have the time to focus their time and money on areas of their life that they really enjoy.
What keeps you busy outside of work?
I’m busy wedding planning and house hunting!
I enjoy spending time with family and friends and watching sport, in particular rugby and cricket. I also enjoy reading and fitness. My fiancé and I have a two-year-old kelpie, Rosie, who needs constant entertaining!
